A little about Alice the Glass Bottomed Boat….
In 2006, Ric and Jill Holmes had the brilliant idea of converting a P&O ships lifeboat to a glass bottomed boat.
For 12 years, they delivered fabulous trips and golden memories out on Loch Gairloch. It’s a pretty intense thing to do for a living – they both worked literally 7 days a week throughout the season for years, and ‘Sealife’ as she was known then, was known as the hardest working trip boat on the loch.
Ric and Jill gained a wonderful reputation for their knowledge and enthusiasm and they were a tough act to follow in 2019, when ‘Sealife’, now re-named ‘Alice’, took to the water once more. (*why Alice? …Through the looking glass…;-)
For 2022, there is a new team of Steve the skipper and his wife Julie, both experienced trip operators having worked with Tim last year and gained great reviews! Julie is shoreside on the pier to help with enquiries, pets, bookings and local knowledge. Come and see us in the little grey booking office on Pier Road. We look forward to meeting you soon!

Alice is MCA Coded for 11 passengers and carries full safety equipment.
We are pet friendly – we just check that other passengers are ok with dogs.
We take most debit and credit cards, plus cash, but not cheques.
The office is open from 09.30 daily – often earlier in high summer, and our trips are typically 10.00, 12.00, 14.00 and 16.00 . Other times may be available by prior arrangement.
Any queries, please just mail Steve or Julie from here: skipper@glassbottomedboat.co.uk
